The area of a shape is how much two dimensional space it takes up. There are two formulae we should know for areas:
The area of a rectangle or square: A = l × b
The area of a triangle: A = ½× l × b
When calculating the area of a shape, always write the formula, then the substations, before calculating the answer. Always remember to write the units for area in the answer.
The perimeter of a shape is the distance around the outside of the shape. We can calculate the perimeter by adding up each of the lengths around the outside of the shape. Again, remember to write units in your answer.
